Incontinence (Women)

A woman can experience incontinence 2 times more than a man. Childbirth and pregnancy, menopause, and structure of female urinary tract account for the difference. Women and men both can become incontinent from multiple sclerosis, strokes and physical problems that are associated with old age. An old woman can experience more incontinence than a young man, but incontinence is not inevitable the age factor. In women, incontinence usually occurs due to problems with muscles that help to release or hold urine. Body stores urine and wastes that are removed by kidneys in bladder, it is a balloon like organ. Bladder connects to urethra, a tube through which it certain amount of urine leaves the body.

Muscles in wall of bladder contract during urination, muscles forcing urine out of bladder and into urethra. Laughing, coughing, sneezing or some other movements put pressure on bladder that cause the leakage of urine and you may have the stress incontinence. Its physical changes resulting from childbirth, pregnancy, and menopause that are common events causing stress incontinence. It is a best common form of the incontinence in women and is also treatable.

The pelvic floor muscles hardly support your bladder, these muscles are weakening, and your bladder can move to downward, pushing out of bottom of pelvis toward vagina.

If somebody loses urine for no apparent reason, he/she may have urge incontinence, most common cause of this incontinence is bladder's inappropriate contractions. Another type of incontinence is functional incontinence that may have thinking problem, communication of moving that prevent them form reaching to toilet.

If bladder is always full, it continually leaks urine, and may have overflow incontinence. Transient is another version of incontinence, it is temporary version and can be triggered by the medications, mental impairment, urinary tract infection, stool impaction and restricted mobility, which can easily push against urinary tract as well as obstruct the outflow.
